February Update

Ruthann’s oncologist told us when our journey with cancer began that cancer is an entity of its own; it has its own agenda and all we can do is plan for everything. I have kept that in the back of my mind hoping Ruthann’s cancer would come and go quietly. Things were quiet until our last scans; Ruthann’s cancer once again is making its self known.

We got the heartbreaking call on a Tuesday afternoon, the words were devastating; Ruthann’s tumor has increased in size, there are a few spots in her lungs, her lymph nodes are enlarged and her hva protein is elevated. It was a lot of information to take in, digest and figure out what the heck is going on. After several tears and many feel sorry for me moments, I reminded everyone we need to keep ourselves together for Ruthann. We all reflected on how strong Ruthann is and how she can and will make it through anything cancer puts in front of her.

With all that said we still don’t know what is going on. She is scheduled for more tests in March and April. Hopefully in early April we will have a better understanding what has happened and where to go from here.

Team Ruthann is up and running. She will walk in the Relay for Life Kids Walk in early May and we are hoping to have raised $1600. With the donations of family and friends we are up to $150 but we still have a long way to go. I know you are probably thinking you have two months to donate but believe me May will be here before you know it so don’t wait please donate today. Make checks payable to American Cancer Society and mail them to Ruthann Pope P.O. Box 625 Coats, NC 27521

Please continue to check Ruthann’s Blog, we will update as we get more information.
